Some Ideas for Good Study Habits

As an adult studying can be difficult to fit into you day. Good study habits can help with this. Good study habits can help you sit down and focus on studying quickly. So lets look at some ideas that can help you be great learners.

1. Try to find a place away from distractions.

This seems obvious, but can be difficult. Don’t forget that even your smart phone can be a distraction. It has so many fun apps! Also, try to avoid places with TVs, computers, smartphones, or anything with the internet. Having music on your computer can seem relaxing, but the temptation to browse the internet can be a bit much. If music helps, but the internet is too much of a distraction, try old technology like a radio.

2. Try to go to the same place when you study.

Going to the same location when you study can be very helpful. You will become accustomed to the location. You will also develop a habit of preparing mentally to study. This can help you sit down and focus on your studies quickly.

3. Try to study at the same time consistently.

This is similar to the same location. It will help you get focused quickly so you can mentally be prepared for studying.

4. Try not to study for too long.

Even if you feel like you haven’t really accomplished much, it can be healthy to accept what you have accomplished and move on with your day. These tips are for daily habits (not cramming). So try to relax and appreciate what you are able to do.

5. At the end of your study session, think back to 2 or 3 things you accomplished.

Even if these are small accomplishments try to think about what you did. It is best to end your study session remembering your success and to feel satisfied.

What did you think of the tips? Do you have any good ideas that you would like to share? Let me know!
